The Concept

In May 2020, I tragically lost my younger brother, Andy.

In the middle of the grieving process, an idea came to me of opening a bar in his honor, with the concept that it would have been his favorite bar in the whole world.

Andy’s Room was born.

The logo is based on his signature, with the “ROOM” bit using the font from Bill Hicks’ fantastic live album, Relentless. Bill was Andy’s number one stand-up comedian of all time, who also sadly died way too young. There is a lot of “Andy” in the logo, and I love that.

Andy was an incredibly funny guy and I want the bar to reflect that. I also want it to be intimate, late night, scruffy, inclusive, have a pool table and jukebox, and not be pretentious in any way. Everything that he liked.

There will be a room with a stage, where magic will happen. Not David-Copperfield-type magic (although I am not ruling out having magicians!), but magic coming from talented artists, such as musicians, poets, authors, comedians, and DJs. I am extremely excited about what is going to happen in there!
